“Harnessing Power: Maximizing Platform Utilization in the Pet Industry for Enhanced Growth”

In my past blogs, I have discussed how much the pet industry has grown, is currently growing, and is estimated to grow in the future! Now, let’s talk about how we can use different digital marketing platforms to help us with that growth and personalize the experience our customers have with our brand.

In a world where the “@everyone” tag is frequently used on social channels, do things differently and show customers why they are important individually. No one wants to be grouped in with everyone; they want to stand out, especially when dealing with small businesses. We can use search engine platforms, social media platforms, and even CRM and automation platforms to help us view metrics and analytics for each customer and grow our brands with a customer-focused strategy in place.

Search Engine Platforms

In today’s technological age, more and more search engine platforms are available for businesses to use. As you can see in this image from HubSpot, shared in an article about “Top 11 Search Engines, Ranked by Popularity” the top search engines are GoogleBingYahooYandex, and DuckDuckGo, and plenty more are available and likely to be added in the future.

Search engines play a crucial role as platforms in aiding pet industry marketers to effectively reach and engage their target audiences. By optimizing for search engines, pet industry marketers can increase their visibility and customers’ awareness of their brand. This allows pet owners who search for products and services to see well-optimized content higher in search results. By utilizing search engines’ capabilities, pet industry marketers can attract more targeted traffic and ultimately increase conversions and sales.

Social Media Platforms

Some of the most popular social media platforms are FacebookInstagramYouTubeTikTokTwitter/X, and LinkedIn. According to this article from HubSpot, “The 2024 State of Marketing & Trends Report: Data from 1400+ Global Marketers”, Facebook and Instagram are the two platforms with the highest ROI. Social media platforms offer great potential for marketers in the pet industry to engage with their audience, enhance brand visibility, and drive sales.

A few ways social media can be utilized in the industry would be to showcase products and services, create engaging content focused on customer preferences, provide customer service, create educational campaigns, share event promotions, monitor trends in the industry, and stay up to date with the competitive landscape.

CRM and Automation Platforms

SalesforceHubSpotMonday Sales CRM, and Zendesk are just a few options available for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and automation software in today’s market. There are many more, some even specifically designed for certain industries. The pet industry has several, such as TimeToPetRunLoyalPetExecGooseKennel Booker, and Gingr. CRM and automation platforms can be used in the pet industry to enhance customer relationships, streamline operations, and boost sales. They can help with customer segmentation, personalized communications, automated marketing campaigns, booking and scheduling more efficiently, helping give the best customer experience possible and allowing for customer feedback and follow-ups. If your business offers loyalty programs, these platforms can help you organize them and automate inventory management simultaneously. By utilizing CRM and automation, pet businesses can enhance operational efficiency, improve customer relations, and drive growth. These tools help deliver a more personalized, responsive service that caters to the unique needs of pet owners and their beloved pets.

It is important to stay updated with the latest marketing trends and the new platforms emerging. As technology continues to advance, so will these platforms and their capabilities. Trends like how different ages feel about AI, for example, can be seen in the “Hootsuite Social Media Consumer 2024 Survey” shared in their article. As we can see in this chart, baby boomers are much more likely to engage with and trust AI-created content. At the same time, Generation X was the group that strongly agreed the most when asked if they found it hard to tell what images and information were real or fake. AI use is growing rapidly, and trends like this are important to note as we focus goals on our customer experience and personalizing our marketing efforts for pet parents.
